Built on Experience and Fire

Rob, the owner, has been in the food industry for over 55 years. He’s run barbecue joints, French restaurants, catering companies and now, he’s behind the fire at Il Fuoco. This place is small, rustic, and built around quality.

Everything here is cooked in a wood-fired oven. And if you’ve followed my channel long enough, you know that’s my favorite way to cook anything.

Seasonal Burrata and Small Plates

We started with their burrata. The toppings change depending on what’s fresh. That day, it was stone fruit. Peaches and nectarines paired with creamy burrata. Sweet, refreshing and local. Perfect bite to start the meal.

Then came the arancini. Crispy outside, soft risotto inside with a splash of white wine flavor. You could taste the care in every detail.

Pizza That Actually Surprises You

Epic pizza.

We ordered one of their regular pizzas topped with guanciale, fennel and dates. Yes, dates. And yes, it was amazing.

This was everything you want in a wood-fired pizza. The dough had that crunch, the bottom held up, and the toppings were perfectly balanced. A little sweet, a little salty, and a lot of flavor. It passed the dough test, the sound test, the everything test.

The Spot Prawn Pizza

They do offer a spot prawn pizza that runs around $100. You have to call ahead to get it. These prawns are caught locally and have to be used fast. If you don’t use them within 24 hours, they go bad. Yes, they’re that fresh.

It’s definitely a splurge, but it’s also unforgettable. Calabrian chili, caramelized onions, fresh prawns, and just the right amount of heat.

Why It’s Worth the Drive

Il Fuoco is more than just a pizza place, it’s a place that takes food seriously.

From seasonal starters to wood-fired pizzas that balance bold and simple flavors, this is one of those North Bay restaurants that actually delivers.

Whether you live in Sonoma County or are driving in from Marin or Napa, Il Fuoco is a spot worth going out of your way for.
