Cycling Geyers Road | Healdsburg to Cloverdale

Cycling Geysers Road, this was the hardest route I found out of Healdsburg that wasn’t out and back. I decided to give the Geysers loop a shot. This was my 8th time cycling so I was not sure if I was going to make it. The route was hard but well worth it.

Started in Healdsburg

The biggest reason I started this cycling journey in Healdsburg was because I wanted to get the “hard part” over with as soon as possible. I like to take challenges head on so I figured hitting the steepest parts of the loop early on would be best for me. Doing the route this way was brutal but after I got past the “two mountains” the rest of the trip was very easy.

The Two Mountains

You will hit two very high points. The first high point is the Geyser Peak Ranch sign. After the Geyser Peak Ranch you will descend then you will go back up. When you go back up you will hit another high point right before getting to Mercuryville. After Mercuryville, you’re done riding up any big mountains.

Don’t Miss the “Cloverdale” Sign

If you keep going straight you will end up at the Geysers Power Plant. There will be a sign that points towards Cloverdale. It is very easy to miss this sign and you will be backtracking uphill if you miss it.

Making harder and longer

From Cloverdale you can opt to take Dutcher Creek Road then Dry Creek instead of Old Redwood Highway. This will make your ride longer and you will hit more hills. My main goal with this ride was to make it through the Geysers and survive. Maybe in the future I will take the longer loop.

Would I Ride it Again?

I want to do this route again after I’ve cycled a little bit more. This was my 8th time cycling and it was my first time on my new bike.

How do the colors hold up?

The colors hold up great. I was impressed that I was able to select skin tones in the same way I would with BRAW footage. Again, I haven’t done any night time tests but the colors were as flexible and I needed them to be.
