The Drewish Deli in Healdsburg Brings Jewish Comfort Food to Wine Country

We finally made it out to The Drewish Deli in Healdsburg, and I can confidently say this is one of the best brunch spots in Sonoma County. It is comfort food, done right, with flavors that feel both familiar and fresh.
From the moment you walk in, you can tell this place means something to the people who visit. You see regulars picking up stacks of bagels by the dozen. You see plates flying out of the kitchen with crisp edges, warm steam, and zero shortcuts.

The Pastrami and That House Made Rye
We started with the pastrami. If you are expecting corned beef, this is not it. It has that same richness but is less salty, more balanced. The house made rye looks like cinnamon bread at first glance, but do not be fooled. It is soft, savory, and holds everything together. This is the kind of bread that does not get in the way. It just adds to the experience.
Bagels Worth the Hype
Take a close look at their bagels and you will see it. The texture. The grittiness. The kind of finish you only get from places that know what they are doing. They are soft on the inside and just crisp enough on the outside. You can tell these are made with intention.

Latkes That Hit Every Note
No trip to a Jewish deli is complete without latkes, and this place does them right. Golden brown, thick, fluffy, and crispy on the edges. You get three of them on a plate, and they come with both apple sauce and house made crème fraîche. Dip it in the apple sauce for sweet and salty. Dip it in the crème for creamy and rich. Then try both and let the balance do the rest.
These latkes are the real deal. Steaming hot on the inside. Crispy on the outside. Full of flavor. Whether or not you grew up eating them, you will appreciate the care that goes into each one.

The Black and White Cookie
This one came out as a surprise from Drew, the owner himself. A traditional black and white cookie. Half chocolate. Half lemon vanilla icing. It is not a sugar cookie. It is a cake cookie. Soft, chilled, and full of nostalgia.
The chocolate side reminded me of the chocolate in Kinder candies. The kind you buy for your kids but end up eating yourself. The white side was sweet, simple, and bright. The two together? They just work.
Final Thoughts
The Drewish Deli is what happens when tradition meets real passion for food. Everything feels thoughtful. Everything is made with care. Whether you are coming in for bagels, a pastrami sandwich, or a full plate of latkes, this place delivers.
If you are in Healdsburg or anywhere nearby, make the trip. It is not just a deli. It is a local gem.
