El Roy’s Shrimp Tacos Might Be the Best in Sonoma County
For Day 8 of our #TacoSeries, we stopped at one of the most talked-about taco spots in Sonoma County—El Roy’s. We visited their Santa Rosa location, and just walking up to the line, we could feel the energy. Locals clearly know what’s good.
First Impressions
There was a buzz. A long line of people waiting patiently. That’s always a good sign. And once we took our first bite, we knew exactly why this place has such a strong reputation.
The Star of the Show: Shrimp Taco
El Roy’s offers a lot of great tacos, but the shrimp taco was the standout. It’s soft shell, packed with flavor, and absolutely drenched in their signature sauce. The sauce is what sets it apart. It’s bold, balanced, and makes each bite unforgettable.

Don’t Sleep on the Tortillas
We also tried the steak taco, and it was solid. But here’s something a lot of people overlook—the tortillas. They’re cooked just right, with a slight crunch on the outside and a soft interior. Out of all the places we’ve been on this taco series, El Roy’s tortillas are easily some of the best.
Worth the Hype?
