Milagro
Taco Series Ep. 7
Day 7 at El Milagro: A Flavorful Detour in Cloverdale
On the seventh day of our #TacoSeries, a taco pilgrimage led us to the inviting streets of Cloverdale, CA, specifically to a spot called El Milagro. The pull of taco enthusiasts and my wife’s recommendations had led me to this gem.

Not Your Usual Tacos
From the outset, El Milagro promises a different kind of taco. These aren’t your usual street tacos – they’re grander, bolder, and, dare I say, a bit burrito-ish. Priced between nine and nine dollars fifty cents, these tacos may initially seem steep for some. Still, the sheer size and the burst of flavors they pack make every penny worth it. It’s an entire meal packed on a tortilla, complemented by the beloved Mayacoba beans and seasoned with Arachera meat.
A Meal on a Tortilla
One of the standouts was their steak taco with potatoes, cradled in a blue corn tortilla. Every bite sang with freshness, echoing my thoughts that this wasn’t just a taco but an entire meal.
While their pork ribs with nopales and their vegetarian option with papas con racas had their unique flavors, the true hero was their bistec and chile pasilla taco. This wasn’t the thinly sliced carne asada that many might be familiar with. This was a chunkier, juicier version – a proper steak in a taco.
The Tortillas
The tortillas, too, played a key role. El Milagro switches between blue corn and white tortillas, each bringing a distinctive flavor profile to the table. The white one adds a corny hint, while the blue tortilla feels more earthy. It’s these small, thoughtful touches that elevate the experience.
Was it Worth it?
Wrapping up the experience, El Milagro not only fulfilled but exceeded expectations. It offered a refreshing break from the usual street tacos, presenting a unique culinary journey, rich in authenticity and tradition. The takeaway? Always have room for surprises on your taco journey. And maybe, just maybe, always have room for one more taco from El Milagro.
