In this video my friends and I travel to Cloverdale California to finally find out what is at the end of the cave at Haunted Hill.
My nephew in-law and younger brother both agreed to go inside the cave with a video production light to find out how deep the cave goes and to see if the cave comes out somewhere on the other side.

Adventure

Haunted Hill, also known as Wicked Trails or Porterfield Creek is a ten-acre active open space area offering hiking and walking opportunities in Sonoma County’s Northernmost town-Cloverdale. The trails are behind the Del Webb retirement community in Cloverdale.

The trails have been there for years but have recently been managed by The Sonoma County Trails Council after the City of Cloverdale hired them to manage the trails.

Growing up in Cloverdale there were many urban legends surrounding Haunted Hill including one about a witch and one about a Mountain Man. These legends were popular amongst locals but largely unknown to people that had recently moved to Cloverdale.

No one that I know has been to the end of the cave at Haunted Hill so I set out to answer one of my Childhood mysteries…what is at the end of Haunted Hill?

While shooting this video we saw my son’s principal on the trails and he told us that he heard the cave used to be an old mercury mine. After posting the video on Facebook a lot of locals confirmed that the cave used to be mined to look for both mercury and gold.

Video Stills

Here are some of our favorite stills from our Haunted Hill Video.

Findings After the Video

After shooting the video, we posted the video on a Cloverdale, CA specific Facebook page. On that post we got insights from older locals about the old trails. Old hunting equipment is what made the trials so “spooky”. Since purchasing the trails, the county removed a lot of the old hunting equipment. If you look closely while hiking on your next adventure, you might see some of the remnants of the spooky hunting gear.
